Newton Community Chorus: Auditions on Sept. 16 & 23

Do you love to sing? The Newton Community Chorus — a Newton tradition — begins its 43rd season this Fall and welcomes new members of all voices to audition. Rehearsals begin on Monday, September 9 from 7PM to 8:45PM, continuing on Monday nights at the Newton Country Day School (785 Centre Street, Newton Centre).

Open to all singers of all ages, the Newton Community Chorus is a warm, friendly and dedicated group conducted by Richard Travers, a retired teacher at Newton North High School and a long-time choral director in the area.

Auditions will be held on Mondays — September 9, 16, and 23. It’s an easy process—no need to sweat. Come to one of the open rehearsals, sing with Chorus, and after a shortened rehearsal, sing a little bit from the music worked on that evening in front of the Director and the small music committee.

This season, the Chorus will be rehearsing for a gala concert in December of Handel’s Messiah, with soloists and orchestra.
