Auditions for Newton Community Chorus: Sept. 12, 19 & 26

The Newton Community Chorus, starting its 41st season, welcomes new members of all voices to audition. Rehearsals begin on September 12 and continue on Monday nights at 7:30PM at the Newton Country Day School (785 Centre Street, Newton). A Newton tradition, the Chorus is open to all singers of all ages. It’s a warm, friendly, and dedicated group conducted by Richard Travers, a retired teacher at Newton North HS and a long-time choral director.

Auditions will be held on Mondays: September 12, 19, and 26 in an easy, no-sweat process. Come to one of our open rehearsals, sing with us, and after a shortened rehearsal, sing a little bit from the music we have worked on that evening, in front of our Director and the small music committee. This season, we will be rehearsing three pieces by Johan Sebastian Bach, performing them with soloists and a small orchestra in January. Our plan for a Spring concert is to perform the Brahms Requiem, with soloists and a full orchestra.

COVID Policy: All singers must be fully vaccinated and have proof of vaccination; we will begin the semester rehearsing with masks (N95 and KN95 preferred).
