Indigenous Peoples Day Newton Dinner with Ho-Chunk Chef Elena Terry, May 6

Indigenous Peoples Day Newton, a group dedicated to uplifting the voices of Indigenous people in Newton and beyond, will host Honoring our Ancestors, a five-course Ho-Chunk dinner by renowned chef Elena Terry, on Saturday, May 6, 6:30PM-9PM at Eliot Church of Newton UCC (474 Centre Street, Newton Corner). The event is open to all.

This will be a unique opportunity to experience Indigenous foods and culture, while supporting the Indigenous community. Tickets can be purchased here. All proceeds from ticket sales will directly support the third annual Indigenous Peoples Day Ceremonial Celebration, which will take place on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Chef Terry is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin. She is also the executive chef and founder of Wild Bearies, an educational, community outreach nonprofit that strives to bring ancestral foods to communities in a nurturing and nourishing way. The Bearies work with ingredients from seed to table, while promoting traditional food systems and farming techniques. Chef Terry seeks to honor stories, share knowledge, cook with community, and clear the way as much as possible for the next generation.
