- Day Middle School science teacher Sam Genier has received the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers 2023 Teacher of the Year award for Middlesex County, for her significant contributions and exemplary teaching or supervision of science education.
- MassArt has selected Newton resident Dr. Lisa Wong as one of six receiving a MassArt Common Good Award in 2023. The awards honor individuals for their work at the intersection of arts, culture, and civic life, advancing the public influence of arts and its role in problem-solving. (See Fig City News profile.)
- Dr. Jason P. Kaplan, Associate Professor and Chair, School Psychology Department at William James College, as been named 2023 Trainer of the Year by the Massachusetts School Psychologists Association. Dr. Kaplan was a school psychologist in the Newton Public Schools for fourteen years.
- Newton North High School School Counselor and Assistant Department Head of Counseling Brendan Amedio has received an Outstanding Educator Award from the University of Chicago.
