On December 7, City Councilors-Elect met in caucus to elect leadership for the coming term.
In the voting for President, there were three ballots for each three rounds:
- The initial round of voting resulted in a 12-12 tie between Becky Grossman and Marc Laredo.
- The second round resulted in a 12-12 tie between Bill Humphrey and Tarik Lucas.
- The third round began with a 12-12 tie between Becky Grossman and Marc Laredo.
- Then David Kalis changed his vote to Marc Laredo, and then Andreae Downs, Alison Leary, and Vicki Danberg, also changed their votes to Marc Laredo.
- Becky Grossman then moved for the election of Marc Laredo by acclimation, and each Councilor voted on record, and the result was unanimous.
In the voting for Vice President:
- The initial round of voting resulted in David Kalis defeating Bill Humphrey, 19-5.
