  • The Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk awarded its Corporate Award—Newcomer Award to Waban-based Jacob’s Team for achieving the highest fundraising for a first-time team last October. Jacob’s Team was created by the NES Group. Craig Fishman is owner and COO of NES Group and his son, Jacob Fishman, was successfully treated at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
  • Former Waban resident David Thau has been awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. He was David was the top fundraiser for Jimmy Fund Walk for the last three years. This year he personally raised over $172, 000 and is co-captain of Team Beyond CRC, which received the top team award for fundraising. David was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in June 2019 at the age of 34. He is a strong advocate for early detection and awareness for colorectal cancer and is a board member for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
  • Centre Street Food Pantry has received a grant of $4000 from the Newport Restaurant Group, owners of Papa Razzi in Wellesley and Bar ‘Cino in Watertown and Brookline. For every gift card purchased at its restaurants (regardless of the value of the gift card) NRG donates $1 to causes like the Centre Street Food Pantry.
