Newton residents in the news

The Boston Globe reports that of the 171 artists and academics honored this year with prestigious Guggenheim fellowships, two live in Newton:

  • Eun Young Lee, of Auburndale, teaches at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she’s associate professor of composition.
  • Bonnie Honig, of Waban, teaches at Brown University, where she’s Nancy Duke Lewis professor of modern culture and media and political science. Her most recent book is A Feminist Theory of Refusal (2021).

Lasell University Provost Eric M. Turner has been named the tenth president of the University — and the first African-American leader of the school in its 172-year history.

Ten students were named to the fall semester’s Dean’s List at Washington University in St. Louis:

  • College of Arts & Sciences: Clara Dutton, Hannah Hummel, Julian Liao, Dylan Martin, Lainie Paris
  • McKelvey School of Engineering: Jared Appel, Katherine Ge
  • Olin Business School: Ari Blumkin, Ash Caine, Charles Leonetti

The Bulfinch Group has announced that three of its employees who live in Newton have again earned the designation of Five Star Wealth Manager: Martin F. Lowenthal, Zvi Shtifter, and Ari Stonehill.
