Following the April 3 School Committee meeting, during which member Chris Brezski (Ward 2) proposed alternative methods to increase available funds for NPS, the School Committee met two more times in the past week to hear more detailed presentations from NPS administrators regarding how they will manage anticipated budget cuts.
- During the April 6 meeting (NewTV video), the School Committee heard a presentation on student instruction and special services.
- During the April 10 meeting (NewTV video), the School Committee heard a presentation on information technology and other non-instructional support such as human resources, custodial services, and business functions such as procurement.
Both presentations began with the Interim Superintendent reiterating the overall $4.9 million deficit in the Fiscal Year 2024 NPS budget.
A public hearing, including public comment on the NPS budget, will occur on April 12, leading up to the School Committee vote to approve the budget on April 27.
