Board and Commission Meetings – Week of 2/19/2023

Board of License Commissioners will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a One-day Temporary All-Alcohol and Entertainment License for a fundraising gala on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 6PM – 10PM to be held at the John M Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton, 675 Watertown Street
  • Request for a One-day Temporary Wine and Malt License for a chili and soup cook-off on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 6PM – 9PM to be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond Street
  • Request for One-Day Temporary Entertainment Licenses

  • Request for a New Common Victualler License
    • Traffic Restaurant LLC d/b/a Stella Cafe, 549 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton, MA 02459. The hours of operation will be Monday through Sunday from 7:00AM – 9:00PM. There will be 15 seats.
    • L & J Company Inc d/b/a Glazed Bytes, 199 Boylston Street, Suite E203D, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. The hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 10:00AM – 6:00PM, and Sunday from 12:00PM – 6:00PM. There will be 20 seats.
  • Transfer of All Alcohol License, New Common Victualler and Annual Entertainment Licenses
    • From Irish Redsox LLC to BEM LLC d/b/a District 118 Kitchen & Bar, 118 Needham Street, Newton, MA 02464. The manager will be Bora Goymen. The hours of operation will be Monday through Sunday from 11:00AM – 1:00AM. There will be 91 seats.

  • Request for a Comprehensive Permit pursuant to Chapter 40B, to construct a 9-story mixed-use development with 410 residential units and approximately 10,689 sq. ft. of ground-floor commerical space on 6.98 acres of land located at 160 Charlemont Street and 56 Christina Street (Northland) in the Mixed Use 1 Zoning District (103 affordable units and 486 parking stalls)
  • Request for an extension of time to exercise variance decision to raze and reconstruct a detached garage at 229 Bellevue Street
