Newton Community Pride is inviting artists to submit designs for its Celebrate Newton banner initiative, to be launched this spring to enliven and brighten the city, inspire civic pride, and introduce art to more public spaces. The initiative will display banners with creative, bold, and vibrant designs on about 100 light poles in several village centers starting in March. Artists may submit a suite of at least four designs, each suitable for display on a 30″ x 60″ vinyl banner hung vertically. “Celebrate Newton” will appear in various languages at the bottom of the banners. Submissions must follow the official rules and are due by January 17. Winners will be chosen by February 1, and each selected artist will receive an honorarium of $1800.
