City of Newton: Request for Proposals for serving low- and moderate-income residents, providing emergency shelter, preventing homelessness, and rapid re-housing

The City of Newton’s Divsion of Housing and Community Development has issued a Request for Proposals for services to be funded by approximately $296,000 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and approximately $151,700 in Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG). Applications will be available as of January 4 and are due February 1. See the linked RFP for details.

The CDBG funds are for 501(c)(3) organizations or municipal entities providing services supporting and enhancing the lives of vulnerable low- and moderate-income Newton residents of all ages. A mandatory technical assistance session will be held on January 12 at 1PM.

The ESG funds are for 501(c)(3) organizations providing services that prevent homelessness and enable homeless individuals and families to move toward stabilization. They will be awarded in three areas — emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, and rapid re-housing. Technical assistance, which is mandatory for new applicants, is available by appointment, and appointments must be made by 12PM on January 17.
