Call for Public Comment: WestMetro HOME Affordable Housng

The City of Newton is a participating and lead member of the WestMetro HOME Consortium – a 13-member association of towns and municipalities (Bedford, Belmont, Brookline, Concord, Framingham, Lexington, Natick, Needham, Newton, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, and Wayland) that receives federal funding (HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds to assist low and moderate income residents through the creation and preservation of affordable housing. Recently, the City of Newton completed an Environmental Review Record (ERR) for a project consisting of building facade and infrastructure upgrades to the existing 125 units at the Framingham Housing Authority’s Beaver Street Federal Housing Development, Carlson Crossing. The project also includes the construction of two new buildings and site improvements and provides four new accessible units.

The City of Newton posted this notice that it has determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment and that it intends to submit a request for the release of funds for this project. Comments to the ERR may be made in writing by any individual, group, or agency and sent to the City of Newton, Planning and Development Department, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton MA 02459, and/or the City of Framingham, Community Development Department, 150 Concord Street, Suite B3, Framingham, MA 01702. To be considered by the WestMetro HOME Consortium and the Framingham Community Development Department prior to authorizing the submission of a request for the release of funds, comments must be postmarked by July 7th and sent to:
