State House update

On Thursday, February 16, Senate President Karen Spilka and House Speaker Ron Mariano announced their leadership teams and committee membership assignments for the 193rd Legislative session.

Newton Delegation

State Senator Cynthia Creem (1MN) will continue to serve as Senate Majority Leader and will continue to chair the Committee on Global Warming and Climate. Senator Creem will serve as Vice Chair of both the Ethics Committee and the Juvenile and Emerging Justice Committee. In addition, she will serve on the Senate Post Audit and Oversight Committee and the Joint Committees on Election Laws as well as the Judiciary Committee.

State Representative Kay Khan (11th Middlesex) will serve on the Post Audit and Oversight Committee and the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling. She will also be a member of the Joint Committee on Public Health.

State Representative Ruth Balser (12th Middlesex) will return as one of four House Division Leaders and will serve on the House Ethics Committee, the House  Committee on Rules, and she will sit on the Joint Committee on Rules.

State Representative John L. Lawn, Jr. (10th Middlesex) will serve as Chair of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing.
