Thank you to Peter Harrington for articulating many of the issues with the zoning “redesign” in his op-ed of 1/9/23. It is impossible to properly give feedback, let alone vote, on the radical re-categorizing of zones without being able to envision what development would be like — especially development “by right.” In addition, the brief exhibit on the 2nd floor of the library this fall and a few zoom meetings are surely not sufficient for residents to understand, digest, and offer feedback on the scheme. Homeowners must submit detailed plans for additions or renovations. Why shouldn’t the Planning Department be held to the same standard?
