City Council is not scheduled to meet this week.
Zoning and Planning will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, November 24 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:
- Requesting discussion and possible amendments to Chapter 30 Zoning to allow certain routine residential alterations by right, specifically additions to buildings with non-conforming height that do not exceed the existing ridgeline
- Requesting re-evaluation and possible amendments to the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance to include 4–6 units, including raising the requirements for the number of affordable units in large developments
Finance Committee will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, November 24 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:
- Request for proposals from outside special counsel to ensure compliance and enforcement of permits at the Turtle Lane site in Auburndale
- Appropriation of $297,400 from the Sewer Fund Surplus for design of repairs and rehabilitation of three pump stations (Phase 3 Pump Station Rehabilitation Project)
- Appropriation of $325,000 from the FY26 Stormwater Operating Reserve to fund development of a comprehensive stormwater infrastructure analysis and plan for the Cheesecake Brook sub-basin
- Creation of a Department of Older Adult Services Gift Account (up to $1,000,000) to fund affordable programs, events, scholarships and critical social services for older residents
- Discussion and review of Newton’s Workers’ Compensation Program
- Discussion about a workers’ compensation claim filed by Loretta Busa
Land Use will meet in person (Council Chambers Room 207) and virtually (Zoom link) on Tuesday, November 25 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:
