As a writer, community activist, and long-term Newton resident, I am supporting and voting for Cyrus Dahmubed to become Newton Ward 4, At-Large, City Councilor. Anyone in Newton can vote for him.
What is it about Cyrus that makes me want to support him?
Foremost, he is a concerned, inquisitive, and determined individual. He cares deeply about the needs of our city’s residents, he investigates the issues that people tell him they are worried about, and brings his professional and community engagement experience to find solutions to difficult problems.
Cyrus feels lucky to have lived in Newton all his life but is dismayed that people his age who grew up here cannot stay because rental or house prices are out of their reach. He is keenly aware that older people who want to downsize don’t have places to go. Affordable housing for both young and old is on the top of his priority list.
As an architect and urban designer, he understands the deep interconnections between community history, the natural and built environments, and what’s necessary to reach consensus in creating a long-lasting infrastructure.
Cyrus is a dynamic, optimistic, forward-thinking breath of fresh air!
