Programs and Services will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, November 5 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:
- Appointment of Ellen Penso to the Council on Aging
- Request to discuss increasing City transparency and improving the sharing of information with the public related to the City’s operations, decision-making processes, and management of resources through (i) adoption of best practices of municipal websites, (ii) allocation of sufficient resources to transform the City website, and (iii) ongoing commitment to prioritize values and practices of transparency
- Request for a review of the Rules of the City Council, traditionally done through a Subcommittee of the Programs & Services Committee
- Request for the development of a code of conduct for Newton City Councilors. This code should set expectations for the behavior of councilors to each other, to city staff and the public. It should also set expectations for the work councilors are elected to do.
Public Safety and Transportation Committee‘s regularly scheduled meeting has been canceled (see Meeting Cancellation Notice).
Public Facilities will meet in person (Room 205) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, November 5 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following requests:
- Grant of location to install and maintain in Armory Street and Washington Street
- Grant an easement to NStar Electrical Company d/b/a Eversource Energy at the West Newton Armory for access to electrical equipment
- Appropriate $1,650,000 from June 30, 2025 Certified Free Cash to support the City’s Vehicle Replacement Program
- Update on Planning and Construction of Bullough’s Pond Dam
- Discussion of the Bullough’s Pond Dam rehabilitation project and the preferred safety design
