Nsiah-Jefferson: Cyrus offers a collaborative, sustainable vision for the future

I am a long-time resident of Newton Massachusetts, and daughter of Matthew Jefferson, the first black alderman and Board of Alderman President for the City of Newton. Through his leadership, my dad was committed to creating just, equitable and inclusive opportunities for residents to live, learn and thrive in the Garden City. Every day, he utilized his passion, diligence and intelligence to strive toward his vision.

Cyrus Dahmubed embodies similar values and qualities that will strengthen our city. As we witness democratic values and principles being challenged on a regular basis, we need leaders like Cyrus who are clear about what he can bring to Newton in the role of City Councilor-at-Large for Ward 4.

When I first met Cyrus, I was impressed by his genuine enthusiasm, compassion, and desire to serve his community. I am endorsing him because he is progressive, young, a long-time Newton resident, and a person of color deeply committed to utilizing his skills, knowledge, and vision to make Newton a more accessible, sustainable, equitable, inclusive, and affordable place to live. I was introduced to Cyrus by former State Representative Kay Khan, who served with my dad on the Board of Alderman during his time in office and participated in the honoring of my dad in February 2024. Cyrus’s longstanding professional and civic engagement have demonstrated his commitment to changing the status quo and advancing positive change for Newton

I urge you to vote for Cyrus Dahmubed for Ward 4 City Councilor.
