Newton voters presumably want to know about the experience and expertise of all candidates for School Committee. They rightfully expect School Committee members to be effective stewards of our public education system, to promote good policies and services for all our schools, to value excellence in education and to advocate for investments to promote it.
Mali Brodt is running for School Committee in Ward 6. She has considerable knowledge about a range of educational issues, good financial skills and the ability to make use of her insights into the people and systems behind the statistics. As a School Committee member she will fully engage with the issues, while being very supportive of students and educators.
Schools and student well-being have been the focus of Mali’s life’s work. With two decades of experience as a teacher and school adjustment counselor she has expertise regarding what students require to thrive academically and emotionally, and she routinely thinks about how to promote learning and improve teaching. She will tirelessly advocate to foster learning and student engagement as a member of the Newton School Committee.
Having known Mali for many years, I can vouch for her character. In her campaign, as in l life, she has proven to be a caring and compassionate listener. I’m confident she wlll bring together a broad range of people from our community to help with the vital work of educating future citizens effectively. She has the strength of character to insist on always putting students first.
