- $152,255 for a LED Lighting Project at the Newton Education Center (7-0, Councilor Micley Not Voting) “The project is estimated to save over twenty-six thousand dollars ($26,000) annually in electricity at Newton Public Schools, with some additional savings for maintenance-related costs.”
- Community Preservation Committee recommendation to appropriate $2,154,544.00 in CPA funding for a grant to Acct# 58C10499-595714, Newton Affordable Housing Trust for their FY26 funding.(8-0)
The Finance Committee held:
- Discussion about a workers’ compensation claim filed by Loretta Busa (8-0) “A 70-year-old woman living in Nonantum. She is a 43-year part-time employee of the City, working at the City-owned community building at the Hawthorne Park, where she cleans among other responsibilities. Mrs. Busa suffered a fall and was severely injured on August 13th while cleaning a bathroom. He noted the severity of the injury was evident by the fact she still resides in a rehabilitation facility, over two months following her injury.” Held for a discussion with the City Administration.
- Request to set salary for City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council (8-0) The Committee is waiting to hear from the Law Department on the issue.
