Newton’s remembrance of 9/11

Many in the Newton community gathered early in the evening of September 11 at the Newton 9-11 Memorial to remember those connected with Newton who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001: Mark Bavis, Paige Farley-Hackel, Nicholas Humber, Aaron Jacobs, Stuart Todd Meltzer, Richard Barry Ross, Rahma Salie, and Amy E. Toyen.

Each year, the Newton 9-11 Memorial Committee awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors in response to an application process. This year’s scholarship recipients, who will graduate next spring from Newton South HS, were honored in this ceremony. First prize went to Ariel Lin, second prize to Samantha Seigel, and third prize to Matteo Lee.
