Local campers wash cars to raise money for inclusive playground games and accessibility, Aug. 15

Service Stars is organizing a community carwash on Friday, August 15, 12PM-2:30PM at 75 Vernon Street, next to the Newton Presbyterian Church. It’s for elementary/middle-school campers in the greater Boston area to raise funds for more inclusive playground games in support of Universal Design.

Service Stars is a community service program for kids that empowers students — some as young as Kindergarten — to support their neighbors, build empathy, and learn that they’re never too young to make a difference in their communities. The carwash is part of a student-led campaign to support Universal Design (UD) Playgrounds — an initiative to make playgrounds as welcoming as possible for all visitors. UD environments consider sensory, cognitive, and emotional abilities in addition to physical accessibility.
