Carroll Center: 1st International Blind Fencing Competition, Aug. 18-19

The Carroll Center for the Blind and the International Fencing Club will host the first-ever International Blind Fencing Competition in Boston, August 16-19. This event will unite blind and low vision fencers from around the globe, elevating Blind Fencing and building momentum for its inclusion as a Paralympic sport.

Since 1954, The Carroll Center for the Blind has taught blind fencing, helping participants enhance their spatial awareness, build confidence, and sharpen their physical and mental agility. More than a sport, fencing provides individuals who are blind or visually impaired with tools to navigate the physical world with greater confidence and independence.

The competition will take place at the International Fencing Club (1208B VFW Parkway, Suite 204, West Roxbury). Individual competitions will be on August 18 starting at 10AM. Team competitions will be on August 19 starting at 9AM.

The Carroll Center seeks donations to raise $15,000 to ensure that its qualified athletes can participate. An anonymous donor will match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.
