The Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) will host accessibility technology trainer Aaron Spelker at the Newton Free Library on July 24, at 1PM for a talk about the organization’s technology services. Massachusetts citizens can get accessibility training services for free from MABVI through a referral from their Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) counselor. MABVI has a group of trainers that provide lessons on:

  • iPhone and iPad Voiceover
  • Android Talkback
  • JAWS, NVDA, and Narrator Screen Readers for PC
  • Voiceover Screen Reader for a MAC Computer
  • Braille Note
  • Meta AI Sunglasses

MABVI is the oldest social service organization in the country that serves adults and seniors who are blind or visually impaired. MABVI provides low vision clinics, peer empowerment support groups, 1:1 volunteer assistance, in-home vision rehabilitation, adjustment counseling/mental health supports, and access/assistive technology training.

MABVI has a partnership with the ‘Tech Goes Home’ initiative to provide iPads and training to blind and visually impaired individuals. This program gets smart devices into the hands of visually impaired individuals so they can participate fully in the information revolution.
