Green Newton will host its 4th Sustainable Street Tour on Saturday, May 17, 2PM-4PM. Come talk with four of your Newton neighbors, as well as Newton Energy Coaches, about sustainable projects. Speak directly with someone who has completed a project to help you get started on yours.
This tour is on Fair Oaks Avenue in Newtonville, between Fessenden and California Streets (map). It will showcase 15 sustainable features (and probably a lot more), all within a 2-minute walk:
- Air source Heat Pumps
- Geothermal (Ground Source) Heat Pumps
- Heat Pump Water Heaters
- Sustainable lawns
- Rain barrel water collection
- Electric Vehicles
- Hybrid Electric Vehicles
- Induction Stoves
- Purchased Rooftop Solar
- Leased Rooftop Solar
- Spray foam attic insulation
- Curbside composting
- Indoor storm windows
- Tree tags for large trees on the street to understand their role in helping us fight climate change
- Demonstration of how shade trees reduce the nearby ground and air temperature.
Sign-up is optional, but recommended.
