The Contemporary Jazz Orchestra East will host its debut — a free concert featuring music from Dizzy Gillespie, Thad Jones, Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Frank Foster, and more. It will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 7:30PM at the War Memorial Auditorium in Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton Centre).
The Contemporary Jazz Orchestra East is comprised of top musicians from the Boston region including Pianist George Russell Jr., Drummer Mark Walker, Lead Alto Saxophonist Shannon LeClaire, Bassist Wes Wirth, Lead Trumpet Bijan Watson, Lead Trombonist Pete Fanelli (not pictured), and Bass Trombonist Peter Cirelli (not pictured).
