City Council Meetings – Week of 4/20/2025

City Council will meet in person (Council Chamber) and virtually (Zoom link) on Tuesday, April 21 at 7PM and broadcast on NewTV’s Youtube channel government channel (Comcast 9, RCN 13, 614 HD, Verizon 33). See Reports Docket and New Docket. After the conclusion of first call Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will present the Mayor’s FY26 Budget Address.

Public Facilities will meet in person (Room 204) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, April 23 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Update on Planning and Construction of Bullough’s Pond Dam
  • Request for a discussion regarding Bullough’s Pond Dam Rehabilitation Project
  • Budget Review: Department of Public Works (DPW)
    • Submittal of the FY2026 to FY2030 Capital Improvement Plan
    • Submittal of the FY26 Municipal/School Operating Budget
    • Submittal of the FY2026-FY2030 Supplemental Capital Improvement
  • Request to appropriate and expend the sum of $225,576 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to Sustainable Materials – Solid Waste to fully fund the prevailing wage rate adjustment under the City’s current contract with Waste Management
  • Request for a total of $4,500,000 to support the City’s Transportation Network Improvement Program with $3,000,000 appropriated from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash, and $1,500,000 transferred from snow and ice reserves within the Comptroller’s budget
  • Request to appropriate $43,100 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to purchase and install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at prioritized crosswalk locations throughout the City.
  • Request to appropriate $100,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to purchase and install a second trailer at the Rumford Avenue Resource Recovery Center
  • Reappointments:
    • Howard Goldberg, Amy L. MacKrell, Carol S. Schein, Peter J. Barrer, and David Gillespie to the Designer Selection Committee

Programs and Services will meet in person (Room 211) and virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, April 24 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Reappointments:
    • Nathan Persampieri to the Commission on Disability
    • Stephen Logowitz and Harold W. Adams to the Community Education Commission
    • William Dietrich to the Biosafety Committee
  • Budget Review: Information Technology, Historic Newton, Library, and Parks, Recreation and Culture
    • Submittal of the FY 2026 to FY 2030 Capital Improvement Plan
