The League of Women Voters of Newton is asking community members to join together with cell phone lights or flashlights at the steps of Newton City Hall on March 4 at 8:30PM — on the night of the President’s State of the Union address — for a “Light for Our Democracy” event to share commitment to and defense of democracy. Leagues of Women Voters throughout the U.S. are hosting “Light for Our Democracy” gatherings Tuesday evening in public spaces across the country.
