Sheila Gabay, a Grand Life Master bridge player, has risen to the top of the American Contract Bridge League Lifetime Masterpoint list for women players. She surpassed the previous record in September after winning the Championship Knockout Teams at the Ocean State Regional. As of November 7, she had over 34,000 masterpoints, ranking her 37th of all-time masterpoint holders among men and women according to the ACBL.
Regina Wu has been appointed to the board of the nonprofit Food For Free, the leading food rescue and distribution organization in Eastern Massachusetts. A Primary Care Physician with Mass General Brigham, she was for ten years volunteer Board President of the Newton Food Pantry, where she was instrumental in doubling the size of the Newton Food Pantry, sharply increasing the number of residents it serves, adding new programs and services, expanding its culturally relevant food selection, and increasing the diversity of its volunteers. She has previously been honored with the Myra Kraft Community MVP Award, the City of Newton Human Rights Award, and the Rotary Club of Newton’s Paul Harris Community Service Award. Liz Tavares has been named a Partner/Manager of Jay Nuss Realty Group. An attorney and recent President of the Rotary Club of Newton, she is an active volunteer with the Family Access Center, Newton Free Library, the Charles River Regional Chamber, and school initiatives.
Jason Paul has announced that he is running to be the next chair of the Democratic National Committee. He is an executive member of the Newton Democratic City Committee and an attorney and political strategist.
Alicia Lee and Madeline Crocker are performing in Boston Ballet’s production of Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker at the Citizens Opera House, in the roles of Polichinelle and a Page, respectively.
