Spring: Finding harmony in Newton — a community that feels like home

Growing up in Thonotosassa, FL, I was surrounded by a small-town community where people knew their neighbors, and connections were meaningful. Since moving to Newton, MA, (3 years and counting!) I’ve realized that, despite the differences in pace and setting, the sense of community here feels just as strong—if not stronger.

One way I’ve been able to tap into that community spirit is through the Newton Community Chorus. As we prepare for our holiday concert (which is on December 8th!), I’m reminded of how much I value spaces where people come together, whether it’s through music, shared traditions, or simply supporting one another.

This holiday season, I feel particularly grateful to call Newton my home. While I’ll always cherish my roots in Thonotosassa, it’s been a joy to find a community here that feels just as welcoming and supportive in its own unique way.

To anyone navigating a big change or settling into a new chapter: Seek out those places where people gather with purpose and care. Community, in all its forms, is what makes a place feel like home.

Warm wishes,
Alexis Spring
