- Appointment of Lori Yarvis to Economic Development Commission
- Request for a discussion and ordinance to require energy use reporting by owners of large properties (campuses and large commercial buildings) to report energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions annually to the City of Newton to be used to encourage reduction in said energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in accordance and support of the goals set forth in the Newton Climate Action Plan. Chair’s Note: The Chair will entertain public comment regarding the inclusion of large residential buildings with central heating systems and a potential exemption for Newton Wellesley Hospital. - Request for discussion and possible amendments to require disclosure of any anticipated change in grade as part of a land use special permit application.
Finance will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, November 25 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following requests:
- Accept and expend an Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research for the FY 2025 Massachusetts Municipal Public Safety Staffing Program in the amount of $123,677.35 for NPD staff overtime.
- Transfer and expend $7,500 from Handicapped Parking Fines-Disability Commission Receipts Reserved for Appropriations Account for NPD overtime pay to conduct Holiday Targeted Enforcement of the accessible parking violations.
- Transfer and expend $600.00 from Handicapped Parking Fines-Disability Commission Receipts Reserved for Appropriations Account to pay for an ASL interpreter and Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) service for The Ride Ahead film screening.
- Appropriate and expend $225,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash for the purpose of funding security camera and access control improvements at Fire and Police Department locations.
- Appropriate and expend $775,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash for the purpose of funding municipal building maintenance projects.
- Appropriate and expend $700,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash for the purpose of funding several high priority Newton Public School capital projects at Newton North High School.
