- Accept a Grant of Easement from Hancock Estates LLC for walking trail access over its property at 200 Estate Drive, Chestnut Hill, MA, known as Hancock Estates.
- Semi-annual updates from the School Committee and Newton Public Schools. The goal of this item will be to increase information sharing between these parties and the City Council per the recommendation from the Community Dialog Working Group.
- Discussion on the investigation by NPS administration into transitioning school buses to electric powered vehicles.
- Appropriate $2,000,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to the NPS Educational Stabilization Fund.
- Appropriate and expend the state reimbursement in the sum of $338,119 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to Newton Public Schools for FY24 McKinney-Vento Homeless Student Transportation.
Public Safety and Transportation will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, November 6 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following requests:
- Appropriate and expend $1,000,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash to purchase one set of PFAS-free firefighter gear for each Firefighter of the Newton Fire Department.
- Appropriate and expend $75,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash for the purchase of a new Shift Commander Vehicle (C-2) in the Fire Department.
- Appropriate and expend $1,800,000 from June 30, 2024 Certified Free Cash for the purpose of funding the purchase of a new Fire Ladder Truck 3 for the Newton Fire Department.
