Finance Committee approved the following (see report and watch the meeting video):
- Appointment of Christopher di Bonaventura as a trustee of the Other Post-Employment Benefits Trust Fund for a term of office set to expire on October 7, 2027. (6-0)
- Appropriation to accept and expend a $50,000 grant for to update the 2019 Economic Development Plan Because the contract is for $50,000 or less it does not have to go out to bid. (6-0)
- Authorization to accept and expend a $217,800 grant from MassDOT’s Shared Streets and Spaces Program for BlueBikes bike share operations in the City of Newton. “There are currently 194 Bluebikes across 15 stations” “and approximately 9,000 rides a year. The Boston College station is the most popular and is open year-round.” Demand is expected to grow with the introduction of more electric bikes. (6-0)
- Appropriate and expend $14,350 for Fire training Funds have been used for fire education in the schools (6-0)
- Authorization to accept and expend a $585,989.09 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to purchase defibrillators (AEDs), Emergency Medical Technician training, and fitness classes. (6-0)
The Finance Committee held:
- Authorization to accept and expend a $50,000 grant from the FY25 Community Compact Grant Program to develop a Wage and Classification Plan. A representative from Human Resources was not available to attend the meeting. (6-0)
- Request for proposals from outside special counsel to ensure compliance and enforcement of applicable permits at the Turtle Lane site in Auburndale The long-delayed project is under a court-appointed receiver who has made the buildings watertight, trimmed the weeds and is activating the fire alarm system. The receiver is working cooperatively with the City, State, and bank to move the project forward.
