Swan Song: Solo voice recital to benefit Newton Community Chorus, Oct. 20

Tenor Joseph Muise, accompanied by pianist Lois Shapiro, will present a solo voice recital, Swan Song, to benefit the Newton Community Chorus. It will take place in the Parish Hall of Grace Episcopal Church (76 Eldredge Street, Newton Corner) on October 20 at 3PM.

The program will include Dichterliebe by Robert Schumann and songs by George and Ira Gershwin, John Rutter, Michael Flanders and Donald Swann. It will also include some audience participation just for fun.

Donations will be accepted to benefit Newton Community Chorus.

Joseph Muise taught at Bigelow Junior High School in Newton, 1973-78, building a chorus program with 285 students in two choruses. He has been an organist and choir director at several churches in Greater Boston, including 11 years as organist at FUUSN and Minister of Music at Parish of the Messiah in Auburndale and Saint Anne’s in the Fields in Lincoln, MA. He has sung with Newton Community Chorus for several years and formerly sang with Newton Choral Society and Dedham Choral Society;
