Newton how has quarterly Fix-It Clinics at the Newton Free Library (330 Homer Street), and the next ones will be on September 15 and December 7, 1:15PM-4PM.
If you have a broken household item in your home that you know you could fix with the right guidance, bring it to the clinic. Fix-It Clinics are totally free and empower Newton residents to fix things for themselves. A Repair Coach will help guide you through diagnosing and repair.
Reserve a timeslot based on the category of the broken item — small electronics repair, sewing and textiles, lamp repair and rewiring, computer & cell phones, bicycles, musical instruments, etc.
Knife Sharpening! Make a free appointment for sharpening kitchen knives and scissors during this event. Maximum of three knives/scissors per time slot, and one time slot per family. Professional Bobby Mac the Knife Sharpener will be on-site at the Library.
Many supplies for this event — and the sharpening services — are made possible through MassDEP grant funds.
