What’s Up in Newton – Week of 7/14/2024

Highlights this Week:

  • No meetings are scheduled this week for City Council or School Committee.
  • Zoning Board of Appeals will continue its public hearing on a Ch. 40B application for 78 Crafts Street.

City Council

There are no meetings scheduled this week for the City Council or its committees.

School Committee

There are no School Committee meetings scheduled for this week.

Board and Commission Meetings

Newton Free Library Development Committee will meet on Monday to discuss event wrap-up, Friends-related items, and FY25 planning.

Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Tuesday to continue its public hearing on the proposed Ch. 40B development of a  a 307-unit residential development (including 62 affordable units and 263 parking spaces) at 78 Crafts Street and adjoining parcels.

Board of License Commissioners will meet on Tuesday to consider:

  • One-day licenses for JCC of Greater Boston (333 Nahanton Street), Church of the Redeemer (379 Hammond Street), and Boston College Lyons Dining Hall
  • Common victualler licenses for The Cookie Monstah (839 Washington Street) and Sebastian’s Cafe (2 Wells Avenue)
  • Change of manager at Boston Marriott Newton Hotel
  • Requested appearance on alleged violation (live outdoor music) and application to change entertainment license by Baramor (45 Union Street)

Urban Tree Commission will not meet this week, as the meeting scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.

Other

Development Review Team will meet regarding potential projects at 31 Chase Street and 275 Grove Street.
