Goldstein: Gaynor’s leadership will be exceptional on the City Council

As a former Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, I have had the pleasure of working closely with individuals who understand the delicate balance between progress and preservation, between innovation and tradition, and between economic dynamism and local priorities. Dan Gaynor, who is running for Ward 2 City Councilor, embodies these ideals.

Dan’s approach to solving the most pressing challenges facing Newton is rooted in pragmatism and common sense. What sets him apart is his commitment to using objective data and facts, rather than ideology, as the foundation for making informed decisions. This approach is essential in a time when our city needs thoughtful, data-driven solutions, particularly when it comes to retaining our small businesses.

Dan is dedicated to addressing issues that matter to all of us in a thoughtful and energetic manner, from improving our potholed streets to enhancing our schools. From experience in the Obama Administration, he knows how to turn the gears of government — and how to embed our community’s values into every vote he takes.

What truly sets Dan apart is his dedication to engaging with our neighbors and listening to the concerns of the people he aims to represent. He believes in asking informed questions and acting on the answers. This commitment to genuine dialogue and action is precisely what our city needs in its leadership.

Dan Gaynor has garnered impressive support from various constituencies, including a majority of the City Council, along with noted local organizations like Voters for a Vibrant Newton. This reflects the trust and confidence our community places in him to lead Newton forward.

I wholeheartedly endorse Dan Gaynor for City Council. He is the candidate who will bring the change that Newton needs with a common-sense approach that respects our city’s heritage while moving us into its future.
