First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton: Blessing of the Animals service, Oct. 1

All are invited to bring favorite furry, hairy, feathered, scaly, or shelled pets to the Sunday morning service at FUUSN on October 1 at 10:15AM. Celebrate kinship with all living creatures in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and share one of his iconic stories of compassion. Bring beloved creatures along or bring a photo of them. The service will include a memorial for pets who are no longer with us (who can also be represented with a photo).

Deciding whether to bring your pet or bring a photo? If you can say yes to these things, please bring your pet:

  • I can keep my pet in my physical control (via leash, carrier, box etc.) indoors for 45 minutes
  • My pet won’t be overly stressed by the presence of other animals or humans

If you are someone who is allergic to animals but would like to be present for the service, we recommend that you wear a mask and sit in the pews near the rear of the sanctuary to limit your exposure.
