Historic Newton had planned an event on August 5 to celebrate the Big Band days of Norumbega’s Totem Pole Ballroom with Dan Gabel and The Abletones, an authentic 18-piece Big Band, featuring vocalist Elise Roth. Enjoy a cocktail reception, swing dance lessons, music and dancing at the War Memorial Auditorium, 1000 Commonwealth Ave., Newton. Vintage dress is encouraged.
