Broken Box Mime Theatre in Newton, Mar. 25 & 27

New York’s Broken Box Mime Theatre is coming to Newton for two shows this week. The Founding Artistic Director BKBX, Becky Baumwoll, grew up in Newton. Use the links below to make reservations for either show — one for families and one for ages 12+:

  • March 25, noon at the New Art Center: Destination Everywhere, for families with kids 3-7 years old, $15 per family suggested donation (no one turned away for lack of funds). It’s a boisterous, hour-long adventure that invites audiences to journey through invisible worlds. Framed by a speaking host to guide even the youngest theater-goers, this show mixes languageless stories with audience interactivity in a playful exploration of body language and creative play. The show concludes with a learn-to-mime mini workshop for families to play from their seats! All ages welcome. Sensory-friendly performance.
  • March 27, 7:30PM at the Newton Free Library: BKBX in Newton, for the adventurous 12 and up (some adult themes), free admission, reservations suggested. It’s a specially curated set of best-of Broken Box, showcasing BKBX’s unique blend of performance art, pantomime, and contemporary theater set to a heart-thumping soundtrack and performed without a single spoken word.
