City Council
City Council is not scheduled to meet this week.
Zoning and Planning will meet on Monday regarding:
- Public hearings with the Planning and Development Board on requests for possible amendments to:
- Remove or reduce parking minimums for commercial uses in commercial centers not within BU1 and BU2 districts, including possible amendments to the table of required parking minimums
- Create a new Adult Day Care use
- Possible zoning amendments to allow additions to buildings with existing nonconforming height that increase the nonconforming height but do not go higher than the existing ridgeline
- Update on short-term rental ordinance compliance and enforcement
- Possible amendments to policies for abutter notifications for proposed large projects
- Reappointment of Scott Friedman to the Newtonville Historic District Commission
Finance will meet on Monday regarding:
- Reappointment of Shawn Murphy as a Constable
- Authorizing transfer of $8,000 from H-P Fines to conduct holiday targeted enforcement of the accessible parking violations from November 8 through December 26
- Amending City ordinances to modernize parking fines in line with surrounding communities and to deter unsafe parking
- Possible ordinance change on residential parking programs and fee structures and whether these need adjustment
- Appropriating $1,650,000 from Free Cash to support the City’s Vehicle Replacement Program
- Appropriating $1,997,000 in CPA Historic Resource funding, per CPC recommendation, for the West Newton Cinema Foundation’s Building Stabilization project
- Review of Newton’s Workers’ Compensation Program on behalf of the Finance Committee
- Fact finding and discussion regarding a workers’ compensation claim
- Correcting Council Order by $450 for various Mitigation funds for inflow and infiltration projects
- Expending $17,290 from Legal Claims/Settlements for final settlement of a claim (Executive Session)
School Committee
School Committee is not scheduled to meet this week.
NPS Community Math Night will be held on Wednesday to discuss important new updates to math programs, including math pathways and instructional practices.
Boards and Commissions
Library Trustee’s Nominating and Governance Committee will meet on Monday for an update on the Director Performance Review.
Newton Cultural Council will meet on Monday regarding adjudication of grants.
Parks and Recreation Signage and Naming Committee will meet on Monday to continue discussion of park and playground naming.
Planning and Development will meet jointly with the Zoning and Planning Committee on Monday to hold public hearings on requests for amendments to :
- Remove, reduce or modify parking minimums for commercial uses in commercial areas
- Create and regulate a new Adult Day Care use
Design Review Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the completed Lincoln-Eliot School project and lessons learned.
Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council will meet on Wednesday to consider approving a letter to the City Council regarding the Newton Highlands Village Enhancement Project.
