As part of the Newton Conservators’ seasonal walk series area naturalist Jeff Adams will lead a winter plant and tree identification walk in Newton’s Kennard Park on Sunday, January 11 from 11AM to 12:30PM.
Discover how to identify bare plants by their branching patterns, bark, buds, galls, and any fruits remaining on the plants. Jeff, who will also share a trove of natural history and folklore about various plants, has led walks for a variety of area organizations, including the Friends of the Fells, Lincoln Land Conservation Trust and the Newton Conservators.
Dress for an extended time in wintry weather and wear sturdy shoes. Kennard Park’s terrain is uneven and hilly. Meet at the parking lot off Dudley Road. In case of rain, the walk will be held on Sunday, January 18, from 11AM to 12:30PM.
Registration is required and limited to 20 people.
