New Philharmonia Orchestra: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Nov. 15 & 16

This coming weekend, the New Philharmonia Orchestra invites you to experience one of music’s most powerful celebrations of humanity—Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, performed live Saturday, November 15 at 7:30PM and Sunday, November 16 at 2PM at Trinity Chapel at the Boston College Law School Campus (865 Centre Street, Newton Centre). The City of Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will deliver an opening speech at 7:30 pm Saturday, November 15th.

Whether you’re a lifelong concertgoer or hearing Beethoven’s Ninth for the first time, this performance promises to uplift and inspire. Join us for an unforgettable evening where music bridges generations, backgrounds, and hearts—reminding us the power of joy that truly unites us all.

Few works speak so directly to the spirit of community as the Ninth Symphony. Beethoven’s visionary setting of Schiller’s “Ode to Joy” proclaims, “All men become brothers,” a message that transcends time, culture, and language. In an age when connection and compassion are more vital than ever, the New Phil’s performance brings this call for unity to life—right here among our neighbors. The orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Jorge Soto, joins forces with local choirs and vocal soloists. Together, they embody the orchestra’s motto, “Music for All,”  blending professional artistry with the warmth and diversity of Newton’s communities.
