I’m voting YES to repeal the winter parking ban, both to help my neighbors and because the reasons given to oppose the repeal don’t hold up. During the winters when it was lifted, emergency vehicles had no problem. The random hours don’t make sense; if an ambulance can get past a parked car at 1:50AM, how come it suddenly can’t at 2:10AM? And the City can always call a snow emergency when needed.
It’s easy for those with a garage or driveway to favor the ban. The reality of moving a car twice a day, for 120 days, to a City lot three-quarters of a mile away is quite onerous, even for those without mobility issues, which I have. Lifting the winter on-street ban is a no-cost, no-risk way to make life easier and safer for hundreds of your neighbors who contribute to the community in many ways.
Please vote YES to repeal the unnecessary ban.
