As members of a local volunteer group that worked closely with Jenna Miara for more than two years, we have seen firsthand the kind of compassionate, capable, and committed leader she is. Jenna would be an exceptional School Committee member, and we are thrilled to vote for her.
In 2022, through the U.S. State Department’s Welcome Corps program, our group helped resettle and support a family of refugees here in Newton. From the very beginning, Jenna was a steady and deeply caring presence who ensured that every detail — from housing and schooling to healthcare and employment — was handled with sensitivity and purpose.
As a licensed attorney, Jenna guided this family of five (including three children) through an array of complex governmental systems with patience, skill, and grace. When obstacles arose, she didn’t get discouraged; she problem-solved. Her professionalism and deep understanding of how government programs work were essential to helping the family find their footing.
Beyond her professional expertise, Jenna’s leadership style made our group more effective week after week. She listened carefully to differing opinions, helped build consensus, and kept us organized and motivated.
These same qualities — thoughtful leadership, clear communication, and a strong sense of social responsibility — are exactly what the Newton School Committee needs at this moment. As the executive director of a large nonprofit organization, Jenna understands how to work within budgets, set strategic priorities, and make hard choices. She knows how policy and funding decisions affect real people. Jenna will work to ensure that every student in our district is supported and empowered to succeed.
We can think of no one better suited to serve our schools. We wholeheartedly support Jenna Miara for the School Committee and urge others to do the same.
Sincerely,
