The Finance Committee approved the following (see the report and watch the meeting video):
- $23,400 grant to review Emergency Medical Dispatch Calls (6–0, Councilor Lipof not voting). The grant was from the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security for Emergency Dispatch of the State of Massachusetts. The State mandates the Police Department review 10% of all emergency medical calls annually for quality control.
- MassDOT Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) equipment grant (6–0, Councilor Lipof not voting) from the Vulnerable Road User Assessment Program of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The grant provides 16 RRFBs for installation at 12 crosswalks. The City will pay for installation.
- $378,505.60 Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization Community Connections grant (6–0, Councilor Lipof not voting) for 67 bike racks, 2 bike shelters (NNHS & NSHS), and 12 additional RRFBs.
- $249,295 MassDOT Shared Streets & Spaces grant for Bluebikes (6–0, Councilor Lipof not voting) to add 4 stations, pilot winter ops, optimize siting.
- Contract authority for Greater Boston bike share (Bluebikes) (7–0) to enter a 5-year term with two optional 2-year renewals; Lyft remains vendor via Metropolitan Area Planning Council-led procurement.
