Newton people in the news…

West Suburban YMCA has promoted the following executives:

  • Sara Pollock DeMedeiros promoted to be Chief Development Officer
  • Laura Snow promoted to be Chief Human Resources Officer.

Martin Lowenthal of the Bullfinch Group has been named among Forbes’ Three-Time Top Security Financial Professionals  by Shook Research®.

The following Newton residents graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May:

  • School of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration, with Distinction in Finance, Investment and Banking and Real Estate, and Urban Land Economics: Jack Dietz and Jacqueline Dowdle
  • College of Letters and Science, Bachelor of Arts: Sara Celanovic (Economics and International Studies), Ava DeNucci (Computer Sciences and Italian), Kira Epstein (Communication Arts ), Anabella Ertel (International Studies), Will La Camera (Economics and Political Science)

Bennett Frost of Newton South High School is one of 60 young musicians across 19 Eastern Massachusetts communities participating in Rockport Music’s annual Cape Ann Jazz Workshop. Now in its 10th year, the Workshop offers guest-artist masterclasses and opportunities to perform in six concerts over two weeks. In addition to rehearsing and performing with the program’s Cape Ann Jazz Messengers, Bennett has been mentoring younger students.
