Board and Commission Meetings – Week of 8/17/2025

Board of License Commissioners will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Tuesday, August 19 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Approval of the July 15, 2025 meeting minutes
  • Requests for One-Day Temporary Entertainment Licenses:
    • Lecture on Tuesday, October 28, 7PM-9PM, at the City Hall War Memorial, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue
    • Fall concert on Saturday, September 20, 4PM-9PM on Campus Green, Boston College, 140 Commonwealth Avenue
  • Request for One-Day Temporary All Alcohol License and Entertainment License:
    • Annual Fundraiser on Friday, August 22 from 7PM-10PM at City Hall War Memorial, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue
  • Requests for One-Day Temporary Wine-Malt Licenses:
    • Induction and Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 25, 4PM-10PM, at Newton South High School, 140 Brandeis Road
    • Rehearsal dinner on Friday, September 26, 6PM-10PM, at Cabot’s Restaurant, 743 Washington Street
    • Party on Saturday, September 13, 6PM-9PM,at New Art Center, 61 Washington Park
  • Change of Officers/Directors/LLC Managers and Ownership Interest to be exercised at Shake Shack Boston Chestnut Hill. The change to LLC manager, officer, and director is the removal of Randall Garutti, David Swinghammer and Danier H. Meyer and adding Robert Lynch and Stephanie Sentell.
  • State Correction to New All Alcohol Restaurant License, Pledge, and Management Agreement: Alcohol Beverage Control Commission requested changes to the application submitted for a new all alcohol restaurant license, pledge, and management agreement to be exercised at 2Life Opus Newton. Alcohol license, stock, and inventory will be pledged to UMB Bank. Licenses will be managed through a management agreement with 2Life Communities Services, Inc. Manager will be Cullen Casey.
  • New All Alcohol General on Premises and New Common Victualler to be added to the existing annual entertainment license exercised at West Newton Cinema Foundation, 1296 Washington Street. Manager will be Jesse Seckel-Cerrotti.

Board of Assessors will meet in person (Room 108) on Wednesday, August 20 at 9AM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Approval of July 2025 Exemption and Abatement Reports

Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, August 21 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following Requests for Certificates of Appropriateness to:

  • Replace electric box and outlet for Electric Vehicle (EV) at 137 Suffolk Road (Continued from previous meeting due to lack of quorum)
  • Install granite curbing at 53 Reservoir Avenue
  • Replace roofing materials, install aluminum drip edge and rake, copper gutter, composite soffit and fascia board, and cedar clapboards at 256 Chestnut Hill Road
  • Install vinyl fence at 51 Gate House Road
  • Install outdoor kitchen island adjacent to existing dining terrace at rear of property at 35 Longwood Road
  • Replace wood gutter with fiberglass gutter and replace any rotted fascia or soffit sections with composite board at 12 Chestnut Hill Terrace
  • Build mudroom addition connecting the garage to the house; various changes to two-story projecting bay; remove pool; extend deck, patio, and dormer on rear; remove existing bay window and construct new in different arrangement on rear; remove greenhouse; infill where greenhouse was including three windows; and alter window programming on rear and front facades at 30 Kingsbury Road
