City Council Meetings – Week of 7/27/2025

Public Facilities will meet in person (Room 204) and virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, July 28 at 7PM. the agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a main drain extension that begins at an end of the line drain manhole near #16 & #17 Chapin Road and extends approximately 482 feet easterly to the end of Chapin Road. This will provide a means for overflow connections to the proposed on-site infiltration system that was designed for the new dwellings. The overflow connections will be provided to the dwellings along the proposed drain main extension.

Traffic Council will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, July 31 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a change to the parking regulations on the block of Norwood Avenue between Parkview Avenue and Bridges Avenue.
  • Request to review and potentially change the parking regulations on both sides of Norwood Avenue in Newtonville, with the goal of improving safety for area residents as well as for Cabot School students and staff by minimizing the possibility of vehicles, at any time of day, from parking across from one another, and thereby blocking or restricting the access of fire trucks, trash, recycling and other vehicles.
  • Request for an accessible parking space in front of 149 North Street (Newton Gardens).
  • Request to change the parking regulation on Eldredge Street between Franklin Street and Church Street from “Prohibited 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, east side” to “Prohibited 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, east side, except by Resident Permit.”
  • Request the addition of a parking prohibition along the east and south side of the one-way portion of Albemarle Road between Watertown Street and Eddy Street, to ensure access for emergency vehicles.
  • Request for a change to the parking regulations on the narrow portion of Lowell Avenue, located to the east of Prescott Street and extending to the dead-end.
  • Request to reexamine the need for the Horace Mann Parking District, and to consider removing it and possibly replacing it with a different parking restriction on Nevada Street (California Street to Churchill Street) and on Linwood Avenue (Crafts Street to Melville Avenue).
  • Request for a change to the parking regulations along a portion of Woodbine Street and Bourne Street, between approximately Phillips Street and Woodbine Terrace, to provide for safe shared parking among residents but with a limited number of parking permits available to employees of local businesses.
