Mindful Nature Mosey in Cold Spring Park, July 7

Older Adult Services will host a 1.4-mile leisurely and informative walk through Cold Spring Park on Monday, July 7, 9:30AM-10:30AM. It will be a mindful and meditative nature stroll, attentive to nature with all senses, and deepen appreciation for Newton’s green spaces and for each other.

Dr. Louise Aronson is attributed for naming “Elderhood” as the penultimate, vital, and rich phase of human life. Nature likewise offers many examples of more-than-human Elders that also continue to grow, connect, and contribute to the world around us. The group will appreciate nature mindfully, drawing on practices such as Shinrun Yoku (‘forest bathing’).

The Mindful Nature Mosey will include simple warm-up movements, natural history of the area, guided breathing and centering awareness, and mindful walking with sensory activities. There will be invitations to pause, reflect, and to share our observations with each other. All are welcome.

Cold Springs Park is a gentle 1.4 mile loop. There ares many natural elements going through woods and wetlands.

Stefanie Haug LICSW, is a local psychotherapist and nature therapy guide.

RSVP is required. Please call 617-796-1675, stop by the Front Desk at 20 Hartford Street, or send your name, telephone number, and email address to the OAS receptionists at [email protected].
